To support this growing trend, Brocade introduced the Solid State Ready program earlier this year and has now extended its scope to include Ethernet fabrics, solutions testing, and market development investments such as technical and sales support, education, marketing, and awareness activities. These efforts will ensure seamless deployment and optimum performance of solid-state storage and VMware technologies in Brocade Fibre Channel and Ethernet fabrics. Program participants include Fujitsu America Inc., Hitachi Data Systems, HP, NetApp, Nimble Storage, Pure Storage, Saratoga Speed, SolidFire, Skyera, Tegile Systems and Violin Memory.

In the tests performed by Telefónica, the Brocade® Vyatta® 5600 vRouter achieved 80 Gbps on a Commercial Off-the-Shelf (COTS) Intel®-based x86 server. Deployed within a Red Hat KVM environment, the Brocade Vyatta 5600 was deployed as a single Virtual Machine (VM) and supported all of the server's available ports at line rate.

The overall Brocade solution has removed the need to manually reconfigure network infrastructure, simplifying network configuration and management, as well as streamlining the ongoing operations for AO Cloud. The company can now focus on deploying and managing cloud services for its clients with a hypervisor-agnostic network and a selection of VM technologies, which is a strategic benefit in meeting individual client cloud services requirements.

According to IDC, the Indian smartphone market surge in 2013 -- over 44 million units shipped, up from 16.2 million in 2012 -- has been mainly powered by homegrown vendors like Micromax. Having established itself as the second-largest smartphone player in India, with 16 percent market share and a strong presence in neighboring South Asian countries, Micromax launched operations in Russia earlier this year as a stepping stone to Eastern Europe.

We therefore embarked on a program to expand capacity by building a third data center and upgrading our existing infrastructure with an emphasis on high-speed internal networks that would support virtualization, availability, and manageability."

One of the issues faced by AGRF and the genomic research community at large is coping with Big Data, with the latest generation of gene sequencing technology generating data files of over a terabyte every week off each of its five systems in operation. At the AGRF's Melbourne node the IT infrastructure has been upgraded to deliver the compute power, storage capacity and network performance to handle the growing data challenge.
